Introduction

SnapRecipes ("we", "our", or "us") protects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights under the GDPR.

Information we collect

  • Account: email address, hashed password, and — if you sign in with Google — your Google profile name and picture.
  • Recipes and meal plans: content you create, import, or publish, including uploaded images.
  • Subscription metadata: from Google Play when you upgrade.
  • Support correspondence: anything you send us by email.

We do not use analytics, marketing pixels, or third-party tracking cookies.

Why we process your data

  • To provide the service you signed up for (contract).
  • To process recipe photos with OCR and to import recipes from URLs you paste.
  • To send you transactional emails (verification, password reset, deletion confirmation).

Third parties we share data with

  • Authentication providers — sign-in (e.g. Google OAuth).
  • AI services — recipe parsing, image recognition, and text extraction from recipe photos.
  • Email delivery providers — transactional email (verification, password reset, etc.).
  • Payment processors — subscription billing on web and Android.
  • Cloud hosting providers — infrastructure and database.

We do not sell your data.

Your rights

  • Access and correction: edit your profile in the app; for anything else email [email protected].
  • Deletion: delete your account from your profile page or, if you are signed out, request deletion at /delete-account. Deletion anonymizes your account and removes your private recipes, collections, shopping lists, cooking sessions, and meal plans. Recipes you have contributed to a published meal plan are kept in anonymized form so the plan remains intact. Backups purge within 30 days.
  • Data portability: email [email protected] and we will send you a machine-readable export within 30 days.
  • Complain: you can lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, personal data is removed immediately from the live database and purged from backups within 30 days.

Children

SnapRecipes is not directed to children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when the policy changes.
